Gold Loses Early Gains As U.S. Dollar Index Firms Up

(Kitco News) – Gold prices have lost their modest early gains in late-morning action Thursday. The yellow metal faded as the U.S. dollar index moved slightly higher on the day and is trading near its session high. Some more profit taking by the shorter-term futures traders is featured in gold today, following recent gains that last week pushed prices to a 10-month high. April gold was last down $6.20 an ounce at $1,.315.00.
